Olot, “the city of volcanoes”, is a city particularly known for its natural interest and for being part of the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park. In its municipal territory there are four volcanoes: Montsacopa, Montolivet -these two, which can be visited-, Garrinada and Bisaroques. The districts around Olot also keep a rich natural heritage with the Moixina wetlands and the Croscat volcano. The unique botanical garden of Parc Nou is also remarkable.
The city of Olot has an interesting cultural heritage. Architecturally, several modernist style monuments can be highlighted (Gayetà-Vila house, Solà-Morales house, Masramon house…), as well as the Renaissance Cloisters of Carmel. These cloisters are part of the grounds of the Olot School of Art, and have the following opening hours: school days open during school hours. Holidays and school holidays in July and August, open from Monday to Saturday: from 10am to 7pm and Sundays and public holidays: from 10am to 1pm. Rest of the year, open from Monday to Thursday from 8.30am to 6pm, Friday from 8.30am to 3pm, Saturdays from 10am to 6pm, and Sundays and public holidays from 11am to 1pm.
In terms of painting and sculpture, the importance of the Olot School should be highlighted, which has a good representation of works in the Museu de la Garrotxa. Painting, sculpture and ceramics are key elements of the Olotí artistic environment, without forgetting the great Pessebristic tradition and the world-renowned workshops of saints.
