The works, which will begin on June 1, will facilitate access to the central area of the Natural Park and will include accessibility improvements for people with reduced mobility.
On June 1, construction works will begin that, on the one hand, will involve the creation of new bus stops in the Fageda d’en Jordà Area —one on each side of the road— and, on the other hand, will improve access to the Joan Maragall monument, located at the beginning of the itinerary bearing the same name.
The works will relocate the current bus stops —currently situated at the semi-roundabout leading to the parking area of the Fageda d’en Jordà Area— moving them to a more suitable location closer to the Can Serra Information Centre. In addition, a small viewpoint will be created around the Joan Maragall monument.
Regarding pedestrian access to the Fageda d’en Jordà via the Joan Maragall itinerary, the route will remain open at all times, although temporary, clearly signposted diversions may occasionally be required during the works.
Until these works are completed, there will be no changes to the current bus stops, which will remain in service at the semi-roundabout providing access to the Fageda d’en Jordà area.
This intervention, promoted by the Department of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition and carried out by Infraestructures.cat, will make access to the central area of the Natural Park easier and safer for users of the Rumbus public transport service, while also improving accessibility conditions in this area.
The project forms part of the regional mobility strategy promoted in recent years with the aim of encouraging more sustainable, organised and accessible mobility within the natural area, through actions that reinforce the territory’s commitment to promoting alternatives to private vehicles and fostering a more respectful way of discovering the natural environment of La Garrotxa.
