The Carrilet Route is a greenway designed for walkers and cyclists, following the former narrow-gauge railway between Olot and Girona. It offers a safe, well-marked and easy route through landscapes of high natural, ecological and cultural value.
The route starts in the volcanic area of La Garrotxa and passes through charming villages such as Les Preses, Vall d’en Bas and Sant Feliu de Pallerols. Along the way, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of landscapes, from volcanic scenery to river valleys, as well as important cultural and heritage sites.
With a very gentle slope (around 1.5%), it is considered an easy to moderate route, ideal for cycling or walking and suitable to be done in stages. It also connects with other routes and greenways, allowing the journey to continue towards Girona and even the coast.
