Espai Cràter is a fully interactive and immersive exhibition, conceived as a national reference in volcanology. The tour explains the volcanoes of La Garrotxa and the world and their relationship with the environment, through audiovisuals, videomapping, gamified experiences and immersive resources.

Highlights of the permanent exhibition:

  • 15 m² model showing the geological formation of La Garrotxa.

  • Clay slope that allows you to see the bowels of the Puig del Roser volcano.

  • Gamification proposals and interactive resources for all types of audiences.

The exhibition has been curated by Geociències Barcelona – CSIC and designed by Indissoluble.

Opening hours

All year round – closed Mondays

From September 16 to June 30

  • Tuesday to Friday: 10 am – 2 pm and 3 pm – 6 pm

  • Saturdays: 10 am – 2 pm and 3 pm – 7 pm

  • Sundays: 10 am – 2 pm

From July 1 to September 15

  • Tuesday to Sunday: 10 am – 2 pm and 4 pm – 8 pm

Special hours

  • Closed: December 25 and 26, January 1 and 6

  • Open only in the morning (10 am – 2 pm): December 24 and 31 and January 5

Facilities and services

Espai Cràter is also a unique and sustainable facility , semi-underground within the Puig del Roser volcano. The building, designed by VOL Studio Architecture , is part of the experience:

  • La Cambra : permanent exhibition on volcanology and society.

  • Sala Magma : multipurpose space with capacity for 110 people, optimal acoustics, high definition projection and streaming. Ideal for cultural and corporate events.

  • Aula Bufador : space intended for educational activities.

  • Seismic Zone : creative laboratory for workshops and small-format presentations.

  • 3,000 m² urban park with dry stone wall (UNESCO Intangible Heritage).
