Practical information

Enjoy your visit with complete peace of mind.

It is important to keep in mind certain safety tips to ensure a trouble-free visit.

Mobility

Whenever possible, travel on foot, by bicycle, or by public transport.

If using a private vehicle, use designated parking areas, do not block paths or access to fields, respect speed limits, and above all, do not drive off-road.

Some forest tracks have restricted motorized access and are only open to local residents and service vehicles.

Activity organization

Special authorization is required for wild camping*, professional photography and filming, flying drones and other aerial devices, holding personal or group events, climbing, canyoning, and organizing sporting activities in protected natural areas.

Pets

Dogs must always be kept on a leash to protect wildlife, livestock, residents, and visitors. Always collect their droppings, take your litter with you, and dispose of it in containers.

Access to nature

Book in advance to access natural areas where prior reservation is required, and if you are an organized group wishing to visit the Croscat Volcano Museum Area, note that in addition to booking, you must be accompanied by a guide authorized by the Natural Park.

Be respectful: do not shout, do not light fires, and do not bathe in pools if the water level is low or in places where it is prohibited.

Respect private property.

When hiking or cycling, follow marked trails, wear suitable footwear, carry water and food, plan your route in advance, take a good map, and in summer start early, as midday temperatures can be very high.

Information centers issue special permits allowing people with reduced mobility to use motor vehicles in restricted-access areas.

Others

It is not permitted to capture or collect rocks, minerals, animals, or plants.

*According to the Special Rules of Alta Garrotxa, camping outside expressly authorized areas is prohibited throughout this protected natural area, except for camps or routes with children or young people, which require municipal authorization; bivouacking without a tent is permitted from sunset to sunrise, with prior authorization from the landowner.

The ordinances of some municipalities, such as Sales de Llierca, Tortellà, or Montagut i Oix, specifically prohibit overnight stays outside regulated accommodations throughout their municipal area, including overnight stays in vehicles or motorhomes parked on public roads.
