La Garrotxa, through Turisme Garrotxa, is leading a pilot environmental assessment project that analyses key indicators of the tourism sector in order to continue advancing towards a more sustainable model aligned with territorial conservation.

The initiative involves 31 tourism businesses in the region, all accredited under the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (CETS), and evaluates aspects such as carbon footprint, water footprint and the relationship with natural capital.

The project provides an environmental overview of the sector and delivers valuable insights to support strategic decision-making. Each participating company has received a tailored report with concrete recommendations to reduce emissions, optimise resource use and strengthen ecosystem protection.

In addition, the project proposes collective actions focused on territorial regeneration and generating a positive return, involving businesses, visitors and local communities.
