#Natural Balance: in nature, there is no place for disrespectful behavior

  • Get your ticket to access the natural areas of La Garrotxa where access is regulated.

To access the Sant Aniol Valley (Protected Natural Area of Alta Garrotxa), the Sant Martí Stream Natural Area (Santa Pau), or the protected area of the Brugent, you must obtain a ticket, which grants the right of access to each of these areas for a specific period of time.

During certain times of the year, this ticket is mandatory in order to enter, as these areas have car parks with limited capacity.

Through prior booking, access is managed and nature is preserved.

Access to the other natural areas of La Garrotxa (Fageda d’en Jordà, Santa Margarida Volcano, etc.) or their car parks does not require prior booking, although it is recommended to arrive early.

For more information on prices, schedules, and sales conditions, please consult the specific information for each area.

Alternatively, you can also cool off in the swimming pools located in different municipalities of La Garrotxa.

Visiting recommendations

Check if you will need a prior booking to access or park in the natural area you want to visit.

Bookings allow us to welcome you better, balancing the enjoyment of the visit with the conservation of the natural values of the protected area. Make them in advance (some places have no coverage), and also book your accommodation, the restaurants where you want to eat, and the activities you want to do ahead of time.

Also check if you need any special authorization.

You will need it if you wish to do wild camping or bivouacking, canyoning, fly drones, hold events, sports activities, or carry out professional photo shoots and film recordings. A permit is also required if you have reduced mobility and want to reach places with restricted vehicle access.

Enjoy nature without surprises

Plan your route in advance, check the weather forecast, and go well equipped (suitable walking shoes, warm clothing if needed, water, food, and a map of the route). Do not light fires and always follow marked trails.

In summer, start your hike early in the morning, as it gets very hot at midday.

If you are an organized group and wish to visit the Museum Space of the Croscat Volcano, you must be accompanied by a guide with the “Good Connoisseur of La Garrotxa” qualification. Almost all guiding companies in the region have staff with this accreditation.

Getting along with the locals

Respect private property –almost all the territory is private–, do not make noise or shout, move around carefully, never off the marked paths or across fields, collect your dog’s waste, and keep them on a leash.

This is the only way to ensure they will not interfere with cattle, sheep herds, or wildlife.

Sleeping outside tourist accommodation

If you travel by motorhome, in addition to campsites you will find several specially designated areas.

Outside these areas, in some municipalities it is forbidden to spend the night inside vehicles or motorhomes parked on public roads.

Things you should take home

The lived experience, photos of your stay, and your rubbish.

Things you cannot take home

Rocks, minerals, plants, animals, and anything that does not belong to you.

Don’t miss anything!
