  • Integrated mobility management in La Garrotxa, a benchmark in EUROPARC Spain magazine

La Garrotxa is featured in a new article in the technical magazine of EUROPARC Spain as a reference case in integrated mobility and public use management, highlighting territorial cooperation as a key tool for moving towards a more sustainable and coordinated tourism model.

The technical magazine EUROPARC Spain has published an article on La Garrotxa’s experience in integrated mobility and public use management, authored by Sara Sánchez, Director of the Alta Garrotxa Consortium, Turina Serra, Manager of Turisme Garrotxa, and Joan Pijoan, Director of the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park.

The article advocates territorial cooperation as a key factor in advancing towards sustainable tourism, moving beyond compartmentalised approaches and promoting an ecosystem of coordination among administrations and local stakeholders.

The results include reduced congestion at critical points, improvements in the visitor experience and coexistence with the local population, the generation of data to support planning, and stronger institutional coordination.

The experience is presented as a transferable model for other European protected natural areas. The article can be found in issue 60 of EUROPARC Spain magazine.
