The Alta Garrotxa Consortium is marking its 25th anniversary in 2026 with an institutional event that highlights its trajectory and looks ahead to future challenges. The event also included the inauguration of the new Interpretation and Visitor Centre of the Alta Garrotxa Protected Natural Area, located at the Sadernes Rectory in the municipality of Sales de Llierca.
The new facility is designed to become a key reference point for understanding the natural, landscape and social values of the area. Beyond welcoming visitors, it is conceived as a strategic tool for environmental education, awareness and the promotion of local heritage.
The centre will improve visitor management, strengthen information services and support a conservation model based on knowledge, shared responsibility and collaborative governance. Its creation responds to the steady increase in visitors and the need for a more structured and high-quality reception system.
The event brought together a wide range of institutional and territorial representatives and reaffirmed the Consortium’s management model, based on cooperation between administrations and local stakeholders, which has successfully balanced conservation with social and economic activity over the past 25 years.
