Located in the heart of Alta Garrotxa, the extensive area of Montagut i Oix includes the center of Oix and several neighbourhoods.

Montagut i Oix stands out for its high concentration of Romanesque churches and hermitages. The Romanesque churches of Sant Pere de Montagut, Sant Llorenç d’Oix, Santa Bárbara de Pruneres, Sant Martí de Toralles, Sant Miquel d’Hortmoier, Sant Feliu del Riu, Sant Miquel de Pera, Sant Martí de Talaixà, the sanctuaries are remarkable of the Virgin of the Needles, the Virgin of the Devesa, the Virgin of the Body, the hermitages of Sant Andreu de Guitarriu and Sant Eudald de Jou, and the monastery of Sant Aniol d’Aguja.

In the municipality there are also other traditional buildings of interest, such as the Pont d’Oix and the Pont d’en Valentí.

For excursionists, the main points of interest are Puig de Bassegoda, Puig de Comanegra, Puig de Montmajor, Cova del Bisbe, Baumes d’Aguja, Cova del Lladre, Baumes d’en Caxurma and El Salt of Brull
